The official start of summer in the UAE is on June 21, coinciding with the summer solstice, according to astronomical data. The summer solstice is the longest day of the year and marks the sun’s highest point in the sky at noon. This also signals the official beginning of the hottest season in the UAE. However, scorching temperatures are already being felt. On May 20, the city recorded its hottest day yet this year at 48°C. The heat will continue to intensify, with forecasts predicting up to 47°C on Wednesday (May 21), according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM). During summer in the UAE, temperatures frequently exceed 40°C and can even reach 50°C in some regions, particularly inland. The high heat is typically accompanied by humidity, making outdoor activities particularly challenging.
