The Jebel Jais in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE. ARCHIVE

Temperatures across the UAE have plummeted this week, with Jebel Jais in Ras Al Khaimah recording a freezing 1.9°C on Saturday morning (January 4). The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) attributed the dip to a combination of a surface air depression from the east and an upper atmospheric air depression from the west. In addition to the drop in temperatures, light rainfall was reported in several areas, including Qurain Al Aish and Abu Al Abyad Island in Abu Dhabi. Residents welcomed the cooler weather, marking a sharp contrast to the UAE’s typically arid climate. The NCM predicts partly cloudy weather on Sunday (January 5), with occasional cloud cover expected in specific regions. Humidity levels are set to rise during the night and early morning in coastal and inland areas, potentially leading to fog or light fog formation. Monday (January 6) will see a gradual increase in temperatures, with winds ranging from 10 to 25 km/h. The Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman are expected to remain relatively calm, with light to moderate sea conditions. Weather patterns for Tuesday (January 7) indicate clear to partly cloudy skies, with high humidity at night and on Wednesday morning. The NCM warns that visibility may be reduced due to fog, particularly in inland areas. ICA/Expat Media
