The Abu Dhabi Federal Court of Appeal (State Security Court) has adjourned to February the trial for 84 people with alleged ties to the terrorist group Muslim Brotherhood. The group has been accused of crimes related to establishing and managing a terrorist group as well as money laundering. The trial will resume on February 7 and 8 to hear the pleading of the public prosecution. On Thursday (January 11), two witnesses testified against five defendants and the six companies they manage on charges related to money laundering for the benefit of the Muslim Brotherhood. The UAE's biggest terror trial of 2024 began on January 6, after the Attorney General concluded nearly six months of investigation that gave evidence of the group’s terrorist involvement. The group allegedly worked in secret before they were arrested. According to the Attorney General, the defendants established a terrorist organisation “for the purpose of committing acts of violence and terrorism on UAE soil”. ICA/Expat Media
