In terms of global ranking by Adecco Middle East, UAE is in 19th place

  The UAE ranked first in Western Asia and North Africa in attracting, developing and retaining talent, according to the Global Talent Competitiveness Index (GTCI) for 2017 of Adecco Middle East. Worldwide, the UAE ranked 19th out of 118 countries listed in the index with Switzerland topping the list followed by Singapore and the United Kingdom. The GTCI showed that Qatar as the closest competitor of the UAE in attracting and development talent as it placed 21st worldwide. Adecco Middle East managing director Romain Liot noted that while the UAE performed well, it has broken into the top 20 of the GTCI not until now. "Its position in this year's GTCI report is both recognition and confirmation of the fact that the vision of the country's leadership – to build a knowledge-based economy – is taking hold," Liot said.

Other highlights of the GTCI report are:

*UAE now ranked fourth globally when it comes to luring valuable resources from abroad, including investments and skilled migrants. In the 2013 GTCI report, the UAE was 37th. *While the UAE ranked 10th in the GTCI for placing women executives in the workforce, the report noted gender earnings disparity and the difficulties faced by women in the Middle East region when it comes to getting high level posts.
