UAE: Towing company, driver to pay Dh197,000 after damaging a luxury car
A man sued a towing business, and its driver after an accident damaged his luxury car. He had demanded that they give him Dh197,000 in compensation for the financial and moral damages. According to the automobile owner's lawsuit, he owned a Lexus vehicle from the 2016 model year and agreed to sell it to a buyer for Dh265,000. It was agreed that the car would be transported to the customer for inspection, after which he would receive the purchase amount. When the automobile was being transferred to the first defendant's towing truck and driven by the second defendant, the latter caused a serious accident that caused the vehicle to be damaged. The tow truck driver was referred to traffic court and was fined for causing the road accident due to recklessness. As a result of the substantial damage to the vehicle, the customer declined to acquire it. According to the receipts and documents he brought to court, the complainant restored his vehicle, and the worth of the replaced spare components was Dh90,424, while the repair cost was Dh21,576. The vehicle's market value before the collision was Dh260,000. It was decreased to Dh175,000 after the crash. The case's final verdict is still pending.
