UAE travelers must declare goods worth over Dh60,000

The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) urged all UAE travelers to disclose any cash or precious metals and stones worth over Dh60,000, or they may pay a fine. The disclosure system determines the penalties for those who fail to abide by the rules, whereby a customs fine is imposed. According to the system, every family member over 18 can travel into or out of the country with up to Dh60,000 in cash or any equivalent foreign currency, precious metals, or gems of equal value without disclosing it to the appropriate authorities. However, travelers carrying any amount greater than Dh60,000 must declare the cash value as soon as they are in any of the UAE's ports. While any passenger under 18 should not be permitted to carry any amount exceeding Dh60,000, the ICP noted that any amount in the passenger's possession would be added to the permitted limit of the passenger's accompanying legal guardian.
