Two healthcare facilities in Abu Dhabi were shut down and a doctor was suspended following an investigation into a series of violations. According to the Department of Health-Abu Dhabi, a medical centre was shut down due to financial violations, while a surgery centre was shut down for posing a health threat. A doctor at the medical centre has been suspended until investigations are completed into alleged violations, including falsification of documentation for health exams, medical interventions and treatments. The facility also failed to get a patient's consent for treatment and failed to communicate treatment procedures and associated risks before starting treatment. It also used an unauthorised facility name. Meanwhile, the surgery centre was shut down for failing to adhere to radiation protection standards, not maintaining and calibrating medical devices and failing to comply with accredited training systems for its staff. Investigators also found several violations related to infectious disease prevention standards and regulations, and handling of hazardous materials and medical waste.
