UAE urges women to pursue STEM careers
Experts have stated that young women should take a more active part in pursuing jobs in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) which plays a significant role in building future economies. Several female scientists and researchers emphasized the need to involve women in the Scientific field. According to the latest UNESCO Science Report published in June 2021, the number of women in scientific careers is increasing, reaching just over 33 percent of researchers worldwide. This evolution is said to be too slow. Hence, researchers are encouraging more women to join STEM-related career paths. Researchers believe that when more women are involved with the STEM field, it is highly likely that Science and Technology will progress faster. Dr. Nura Adam Mohamed, diabetes and cardiovascular disease researcher, stated that when women have the tools they need, they can succeed. Women can make a significant contribution to the growth of any field. According to Dr. Mohamed, Gulf women have achieved remarkable success in various fields, including Scientific research. “Women can bring unique perspectives to research and scientific conversations. Some issues affect women more than men, so women have a distinctive motivation to research these issues and are well-positioned to find solutions,” she said.
