The UAE has introduced stricter requirements for visit visa applications, travel agents confirmed to Expat Media. The new regulations require applicants to submit proof of at least Dh3,000 in funds, along with confirmed return tickets and proof of accommodation. Previously, visit visa applications did not require proof of funds or accommodation. Now, even arriving passengers may face random checks for compliance, said Geoffrey Salatan, CEO of Dubai-based Geof Travel, in an interview with Expat Media. “Immigration officers are actively verifying documents like return tickets to detect any fabricated entries,” Dhaniella Ramirez of Lucky Charms Travels explained to Expat Media. “These requirements are designed to ensure that visitors have clear plans and the means to support themselves during their stay, minimizing the risk of overstaying their visa,” Ellanie Villena, owner of Dubai-based Angel Wings International Tourism, told Expat Media. Villena pointed out that these changes might also deter individuals from repeatedly entering the UAE on visit visas without transitioning to residency. "Many visitors have been exiting and re-entering on visit visas multiple times without switching to residency, which may have led to these changes,” she said. “Travelers should follow visa rules carefully, avoid repeated reapplications without a clear purpose, and check official updates to avoid any issues,” she added. Travel agents say the updated rules reflect the UAE government’s initiative to maintaining a well-regulated visa system while welcoming legitimate visitors. They advised applicants to check all documentation before applying and consult official resources to stay informed.
