The UAE has officially exempted Sudanese nationals from incurring fines related to expired residency and entry permits, as announced by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security (ICP). The decision will take effect starting May 19 and will remain valid until the end of the year, giving Sudanese residents ample time to regularize their status without penalties. The exemption is in line with the UAE’s ongoing efforts to support countries facing crises and reflects its humanitarian stance. “This decision reflects the UAE’s keenness to alleviate the consequences of the exceptional circumstances currently facing Sudan,” ICP said in a statement. “It further underscores the country's role as a beacon of tolerance and human solidarity.” The ICP emphasized that affected individuals can submit renewal applications through the authority’s official digital platforms. The procedures are designed to be streamlined and flexible, with all incurred fines waived. The decision also aligns with national efforts to strengthen social and humanitarian well-being among UAE residents.
