The UAE’s Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has issued a fresh warning to job seekers about the growing number of fraudulent employment schemes, especially online. Scammers are using enticing terms such as “Work from home,” “No experience needed,” and “Flexible schedule” to lure applicants, particularly those desperate to land jobs in the UAE. In many cases, victims are promised high salaries for vague job descriptions and asked to pay upfront for processing fees, background checks, or office supplies—a major red flag. MoHRE officials stressed that no job seeker should ever pay to secure a legitimate job in the UAE. “Job seekers should never agree to pay money to secure a job,” MoHRE said. “Genuine employers cover all recruitment costs, and a valid job offer will always be verified through the ministry.” To avoid falling victim to these scams, the ministry issued these official guidelines: Only accept offers verified by MoHRE. Any legal job in the UAE must include an official offer letter issued through the MoHRE system. Verify the job offer. Use the job offer number to check the offer online or confirm with the UAE embassy in your home country. Never work on a tourist or visit visa. Employment is illegal under these visas and violators face penalties. Don’t pay recruitment fees. All hiring costs must be borne by the employer, not the applicant. Check if the company is registered. Use the National Economic Register to verify the legitimacy of UAE-based companies.
