The UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MoCCAE) has issued an urgent warning against the use, sale, or distribution of Uranus Star bottled drinking water, following reports of contamination in neighbouring Oman that resulted in two deaths. The ministry confirmed that no permits have been issued to import or sell the Uranus Star brand in the UAE, and no such products have been found in major retail outlets across the country. “As part of our continuous monitoring of food safety, we immediately activated verification and coordination with all local authorities,” the MoCCAE said in a statement. The alert came after the Royal Oman Police reported that an Omani man and an expatriate woman died in Oman's Wilayat of Suwaiq area after drinking contaminated bottled water imported from Iran under the same brand name. Oman has since banned all bottled water imports from Iran and ordered the immediate withdrawal of Uranus Star products from the market. In the UAE, the ministry has instructed residents to dispose of any Uranus Star products and reiterated that the country maintains a strict food safety system to prevent contaminated goods from entering the local market. “The UAE remains committed to protecting public health through continuous monitoring and coordination with international and local partners,” according to the ministry.
