EXPAT MEDIA The UAE is experiencing a significant spike in heat and humidity as temperatures reached a scorching 48°C in internal areas on Tuesday (May 20), according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM). The NCM reported that Tuesday marked one of the hottest days of the season so far, with humidity levels soaring up to 90 percent in coastal and island regions, as well as in some internal areas. The weather authority warned that high temperatures will persist throughout the week. “Temperature levels will range between 40°C to 45°C in coastal areas and islands, and up to 48°C in internal areas,” the NCM stated. Residents have been advised to stay hydrated, avoid outdoor exposure during peak heat hours, and take precautions to prevent heat-related illnesses. Humidity, combined with the already extreme heat, is expected to make conditions feel even hotter, especially in urban areas. Here’s the official 5-day weather forecast from the NCM: Tuesday, May 20 Fair to partly cloudy at times.
