The UAE is bracing for a mix of weather conditions over the weekend, with the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) forecasting cloudy skies, a chance of rain, and humid conditions that could lead to fog formation in some areas. According to the NCM, the weather on Saturday (January 18) will be partly cloudy to cloudy, particularly over islands, coastal regions, and northern and eastern areas. “Rainfall is possible, especially during the day,” the agency noted. Humidity levels will rise at night and early morning, increasing the likelihood of light fog in inland areas. Winds are expected to be light to moderate, occasionally freshening and causing blowing dust. The northwesterly winds will have speeds ranging from 10 to 25 km/h, reaching up to 40 km/h in some areas. Maritime conditions will also see variability, with rough seas anticipated in the Arabian Gulf and moderate to rough waves in the Oman Sea. Residents and maritime operators are advised to exercise caution. Sunday will follow a similar pattern, with partly cloudy skies and a chance of light rain in northern regions. Fog or mist may form over some internal areas at night and early Monday morning. The wind and sea conditions are expected to remain consistent, with the Arabian Gulf experiencing moderate to rough seas. The week ahead will witness fluctuations in wind speeds and sea conditions. By Tuesday, strong northwesterly winds could cause blowing dust and sand inland, reducing visibility. Seas will be rough to very rough in the Arabian Gulf, prompting authorities to issue advisories for seafarers. Residents are urged to stay updated with NCM advisories, particularly those planning outdoor activities or travel in coastal areas.
