UAE weather: Flash flood fears as rain persists
DUBAI – Rain, thunder and lightning hit parts of the UAE on Wednesday (April 10) as forecasters said that the unstable weather will continue until the weekend.
The heavy rainfall may potentially bring flash floods, while strong winds of up to 60km/hr are forecast to stir up a dust storm that is going to lower visibility to less than two kilometres.
The National Centre of Meteorology issued a weather warning in force until 6pm on Wednesday, saying rain and strong winds may also cause 9-foot waves in the Arabian Gulf.

Thursday
The weather continues to be cloudy with rainfall of different intensities over scattered
areas, may be associated with thunder at times. The wind will be moderate to fresh Northerly to Northeasterly and strong at times with clouds activity causing blowing dust and sand over exposed areas with a speed of 30 – 40, reaching 65 Km/hr. Sea will be rough to very rough at times especially with clouds activity in the Arabian Gulf and moderate in Oman Sea.
Friday
Partly cloudy to cloudy at times, with scattered rainfall at intervals, thundery at times
over some areas. Wind will be moderate Northerly to Northeasterly, freshening at times with clouds activity causing blowing dust and sand over exposed areas, with a speed of 30 – 40 Km/hr, reaching 65 Km/hr. Sea will be rough to very rough especially with clouds activity in the Arabian Gulf and moderate becoming rough at times in Oman Sea.
Saturday
Weather instability intensifies, with rainfall of different intensities over most areas. Rain intensity increases from time to time, accompanied with lightning, thunder, hail and elevated levels of water bodies. Wind will be fresh Northeasterly to Northwesterly, and strong at times with clouds activity causing blowing dust and sand over exposed areas, with a speed of 30 – 45 Km/hr, may exceed 75 Km/hr. Sea will be rough to very rough especially with clouds activity in the Arabian Gulf and rough in Oman Sea.
