The UAE has welcomed the announcement of a ceasefire between Iran and Israel, expressing hope that the development will lead to regional stability and de-escalation of tensions. In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) on Tuesday (June 24), the UAE also commended US President Donald Trump and Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar, for their diplomatic efforts in securing the truce. “The UAE stresses the importance of continuing effective coordination to prevent further escalation and to mitigate humanitarian and security repercussions across the region,” the statement read. The UAE reiterated its long-standing position in favor of political solutions and dialogue, urging all parties to exercise maximum restraint and avoid actions that threaten peace and development in the region. The ceasefire announcement came after 12 days of intense cross-border strikes between Iran and Israel. According to the White House, Trump held direct talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, while US Vice President JD Vance and other officials coordinated with Iranian counterparts. Despite the ceasefire, Iran launched several ballistic missiles early on Tuesday morning, including one that hit a residential building in Be’er Sheva, Israel, killing three people. Iranian state media later confirmed the ceasefire had been enforced. Meanwhile, in Iraq, Prime Minister Mohammed Al Sudani ordered an investigation into drone attacks by Iran that targeted several Iraqi military installations, including Camp Taji and Imam Ali Base. No casualties were reported, but radar systems were damaged. “These cowardly attacks will not go unpunished,” said Iraqi Armed Forces spokesperson Sabah Al Numan, adding that a technical and intelligence committee has been formed to probe the incident.
