The Abu Dhabi Court of Appeal confirmed the Court of First Instance's decision requiring a business and an engineer to compensate a welder Dh600,000 for the burns he sustained at work. The welder claimed in court documents that he was performing work for an engineer at the time of the event. While asking him to access a power box, the engineer left the electricity running. The man suffered burns to his face, chest, and right hand in addition to second and third-degree burns due to the box exploding in his face. For the financial and emotional harm he endured, the welder demanded that the engineer and the business they were employed by compensate him for Dh3 million. He also sought legal interest at 12% from the time of the judicial claim until the whole amount was paid. The forensic report established that the complainant's injuries were electrical burns to the face, neck, chest, and arms. To compensate for the victim's material and emotional losses, the court ordered the engineer and the business to give him Dh600,000.
