Residents across the UAE are in for a chilly Friday night, as temperatures are expected to dip sharply, with mountainous areas forecast to record lows of just 5°C, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM). On January 23 (Friday), the NCM said night-time and early morning temperatures will drop significantly across the country, particularly in elevated and desert areas, making it one of the coldest nights so far this winter. In mountainous regions, minimum temperatures are expected to reach 5°C, while internal areas may drop to 7°C, and coastal areas and islands are forecast to record lows of 11°C. During the day, temperatures will remain mild, with maximums reaching 25°C in internal areas, 24°C along the coast, and 16°C in mountainous regions. However, once the sun sets, cold air and increasing winds are expected to drive temperatures down quickly. Winds will blow at speeds of up to 35km/hr in coastal areas and islands, and up to 30km/hr in internal regions, adding to the chill factor and making outdoor conditions feel colder than actual readings. Weather experts say the drop in temperatures is due to the extension of a weak surface low-pressure system from the east, combined with a weak upper-air low-pressure system, allowing colder air to move across the country. Residents heading out tonight are advised to dress warmly, especially in desert and mountainous locations, while drivers are urged to remain cautious during early morning hours when reduced visibility, fog, or mist may form in some areas. The NCM also expects generally fair to partly cloudy conditions, with humidity increasing overnight, particularly over western regions. More cool weather is forecast over the coming days, with fluctuating temperatures, stronger winds, and possible rainfall in coastal and northern areas.

Winds will be light to moderate, freshening at times, while the sea will be moderate to slight in the Arabian Gulf and slight in the Oman Sea. On January 24 (Saturday), weather will remain fair to partly cloudy, becoming cloudy by night over the sea and some coastal and northern areas, with a probability of light rainfall. Temperatures will increase slightly. Winds will be light to moderate, shifting from southeasterly to northeasterly, freshening at times with speeds of 10–20km/hr, reaching up to 35km/hr. Sea conditions will be slight to moderate in the Arabian Gulf and slight in the Oman Sea. On January 25 (Sunday), skies will be partly cloudy to cloudy over some coastal, northern, and eastern areas, with a chance of rainfall. Humidity will rise by night and into Monday morning over coastal and internal areas. Winds will be light to moderate, becoming northwesterly and freshening at times by night, with speeds of 10–25km/hr, reaching up to 40km/hr. The sea will become rough gradually by night in the western Arabian Gulf. On January 26 (Monday), conditions will be partly cloudy to cloudy at times, with a noticeable drop in temperatures. Humidity is expected by night and Tuesday morning, with a chance of fog or mist formation over some coastal and internal areas. Winds will be northeasterly to northwesterly, freshening over the sea and reaching up to 40km/hr. The sea will be rough in the morning in the western Arabian Gulf. On January 27 (Tuesday), weather will be fair to partly cloudy, with low clouds appearing over some eastern and northern areas. Humidity will increase by night and into Wednesday morning, with a probability of fog or mist.
