A young man who accused a woman of swindling him out of Dh74,000 by claiming she would invest the money in her company and share profits with him had his lawsuit dismissed due to a lack of evidence. The Abu Dhabi Court of Appeals for Family and Civil Administrative Claims upheld the Court of First Instance's decision to dismiss the man's case. According to court documents, the man in his twenties filed a lawsuit against the woman. He demanded that she return the Dh74,000 she fraudulently obtained. He stated that the defendant duped him into giving her the money by lying to him about having an investment company. He claimed the woman told him the business would make him twice as much money as he had invested. According to the plaintiff, he gave the money to the woman in two installments via bank account transfer by one of his friends: He stated that he was surprised that no profits were given to him after some time. When he asked the woman for a refund, she refused. The woman denied taking money from the young man, claiming that the agreement to invest the funds transferred to her bank account was between her and another person, not the plaintiff. She claimed there was no investment agreement between her and the plaintiff. Her lawyer had asked the court to dismiss the case due to a lack of evidence. The Court of First Instance had previously dismissed the man's case because the papers he presented showed no business relationship between him and the defendant. The man, on the other hand, appealed the ruling. After hearing from all parties, the judge decided to dismiss his appeal and uphold the lower court's decision. The plaintiff has been ordered to pay the woman's legal fees.
