An Abu Dhabi resident sued his ex-wife, accusing her of stealing Dh70,000 from his safe when they were still married. The man demanded that his ex-wife pay him Dh85,000 in compensation for the money she had taken from him and the damages. The man told the Abu Dhabi Family and Civil Administrative Claims Court that he and his wife had three children. He said the woman illegally collected the money from his safe in their bedroom before they divorced. The man emphasized that the woman knew the passcode that opened the safe and had admitted to stealing the money. She had agreed to return it, which she didn't do until they separated. He claimed that their divorce was primarily the result of their disagreements about this occurrence. When she appeared in court, the woman denied taking money from her ex-husband's safe. She also claimed that she had not received Dh15,000 from the man for their children's school transportation for a year and that her ex-husband had filed a lawsuit against her to avoid having to look after his children. The court decided to dismiss the lawsuit due to a lack of evidence after hearing from all parties. The man was ordered to pay his ex-wife's legal fees.
