The Fujairah Federal Court of First Instance fined a woman Dh50,000 for running an Instagram account to recruit domestic workers without a license from the appropriate authorities. The lawsuit papers state that the victim filed an electronic report through the police smart application claiming that a woman defrauded him and stole Dh8,500 in exchange for a domestic worker. She introduced him to the domestic worker, but he did not receive her papers or identification documents, preventing him from completing the legally required procedures. When he contacted the 'recruiter,' she replied that she would give him the worker's documents once she obtained them. She kept putting it off until he demanded that she return his money and immediately reported to the police when she failed to do so. The woman denied the accusation and stated that she had given the domestic worker her identification papers. The complainant returned the worker's identification papers to complete the residency procedures, but the driver who delivered the worker's identification papers seized all of the documents. She went on to say that she works in a licensed office. During the Public Prosecution investigation, she admitted to acting as an intermediary in bringing in workers without a permit from the appropriate authorities. BKM/ Expat Media
