An Arab lady was convicted of stealing a wallet containing Dh3,000 from a mall and then refusing to return it to its owner when she was apprehended. The wallet owner complained that she had misplaced it while walking around a shopping mall. Surveillance camera footage seized from the mall proved that the accused stole the wallet, which she later denied doing. The plaintiff then sued the Arab woman, requesting that she repay her Dh3,000. According to court documents, the victim sought an additional Dh47,000 in damages. The Al Ain Court of First Instance ordered that the accused pay the plaintiff pay Dh5,000 to the plaintiff – Dh3,000 for the money that was in the wallet, and an additional Dh2,000 as compensation for moral damages.
