UAE: Woman ordered to pay Dh4,000 worth of traffic fines to former husband
A man filed a case at Al Ain Court of First Instance, seeking that his ex-wife pays him Dh10,220 in traffic penalties and automobile repair charges, in addition to the lawsuit's fees and expenses and the lawyer's fees. The appellant explained that the appellee unlawfully seized a vehicle during their marriage, but he could reclaim it after a court order. He further stated that accidents occurred while his ex-wife was driving the vehicle and that the damages were fixed at Dh4,500. He also stated that traffic offenses totaling Dh7,220 were committed. The appellee testified in court that the date of the accident report demonstrated that it occurred before she utilized the vehicle. The automobile was in the hands of the appellee during the marital connection, and then the complainant reclaimed it. According to the receipts for the payment of the fines, the complainant is entitled to receive Dh4,000, The court noted that the accident report did not indicate that the appellee was the one who caused it; thus, the court ordered her to pay Dh4,000 to her ex-husband.
