UAE’s first fireworks contest to dazzle in March

  DUBAI - Four pyrotechnics teams from Australia, Canada, Netherland and South Korea will battle it out this month for the first UAE fireworks contest. The contest is part of the Mother of the Nation festival in Abu Dhabi. It will take place across two weekends from March 15 and 16, and March 22 and 23. The pyrotechnics contest will feature 15-minute displays that will light up the skies over Abu Dhabi’s Corniche. Each display will be launched from a series of off-shore barges at Corniche beach. More than 87,000 fireworks shells are expected to launch during the event, which will be judged for spacial occupation, choreography, originality of display, use of colour, pace and audience impact. The winner will be announced on March 23 at 11pm, on the final day of the Mother of the Nation festival.
