The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) has unveiled a fully electric “smart inspection car” designed to automatically detect visa and residency violations using artificial intelligence and 360° camera technology. The innovation, revealed at GITEX Global 2025 on Tuesday (October 14), will enter field operations in early 2026, starting in Dubai before expanding to other emirates. Equipped with six high-resolution cameras mounted around its body, the vehicle can capture facial images of people within 10 metres and cross-check them in real-time against immigration databases. Faris Almaeeni, Manager of ICP’s Foreign Affairs Systems Department, explained that the car is not autonomous but uses AI for instant data analysis. “It’s fully electrical. It has its own dashboard, and it’s working with the AI, so it gives you some heat maps,” he said. Once the car detects a possible visa violation, an officer will step out, verify documents, and address the issue following standard legal procedures. “The officer will go down and he will speak with , and they will try to solve issue with being illegal in UAE,” Almaeeni said. The smart inspection car is part of ICP’s broader initiative to digitize inspection and immigration systems. In the first half of 2025 alone, ICP identified over 32,000 visa violations, including overstays and unlawful employment. If successfully rolled out, the AI-powered patrol car could significantly speed up detection, reduce manual checks, and strengthen compliance monitoring across the country. ICA/Expat Media
