Uber has launched its first autonomous vehicle (AV) rides outside the US, marking a significant milestone for the UAE’s tech innovation. The robotaxi service, available in Abu Dhabi, operates in key tourist areas like Saadiyat Island and Yas Island. Riders can enjoy UberX or Uber Comfort rates, with plans for a fully driverless option by 2025. “Autonomous vehicles are integral to future mobility,” said Noah Zych of Uber. A safety operator is currently present in each vehicle during the pilot phase. Partnering with WeRide, Uber leverages AI technology to ensure safety and efficiency.
