The UAE's General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA) has issued a stern reminder against engaging in unlicensed commercial gaming activities within the country. Both operators and individuals engaging in such activities face severe legal consequences, according to the GCGRA. In a statement, the GCGRA emphasized that only entities with valid licenses are authorized to operate in the commercial gaming sector. This applies to businesses, third-party service providers, and individuals. "Our regulatory framework ensures player safety, integrity, and the reputation of the UAE as a controlled gaming jurisdiction," a GCGRA spokesperson said. The authority has so far licensed five companies, including The Game LLC, Wynn Resorts, PayBy Technology Projects, Smartplay International, and Aristocrat. These entities are authorized to operate within clearly defined categories such as lottery, land-based gaming, gaming-related vendors, internet gaming, and sports wagering. The GCGRA's robust framework is part of a larger strategy to attract reputable international players while safeguarding against illegal operations. "By maintaining strict licensing standards, we ensure that only ethical and well-regulated gaming practices thrive in the UAE," the spokesperson added. Unlicensed gaming operators are not only jeopardizing their businesses but also exposing players to risks such as fraud and lack of recourse. Players engaging with unauthorized entities may face penalties under UAE law. The GCGRA has called on the public to report suspicious activities and rely on approved operators for a safe gaming experience. These measures come at a time when the UAE is expanding its gaming offerings.
