A Los Angeles jury found Daystar Peterson, the Canadian rapper better known by his stage name Tory Lanez, guilty on Friday of shooting Megan Thee Stallion in both feet following a dispute in 2020. The 30-year-old Lanez was found guilty by the jury of three felonies, including assault with a semi-automatic handgun, carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm inside a moving vehicle, and carelessly firing a gun. Lanez will face deportation to Canada and receive a sentence of more than 20 years in prison. A lawyer for Megan Thee Stallion said after the verdict: "The jury got it right. I am thankful there is justice for Meg." Grammy-winning rapper Megan Thee Stallion, 27, testified that Lanez shot at her feet following a pool party in the Hollywood Hills in July 2020. She also added that the shooting was preceded by a heated argument that started when the two started criticizing each other's musical careers. According to Megan Thee Stallion, whose real name is Megan Pete, she required surgery to remove bullet fragments from her feet. Lanez, free on bail during the trial after a period of house arrest, was taken into custody.
