An American lawyer named Mark S Zuckerberg is suing Facebook after the platform repeatedly suspended his account, wrongly accusing him of impersonating the company’s founder. The Indiana-based bankruptcy attorney says his account has been disabled five times over the past eight years, costing him thousands of dollars in lost business. “It’s not funny. Not when they take my money,” Zuckerberg told WTHR-TV. He explained that he had spent $11,000 on advertising that was pulled when Facebook disabled his account. “It’s like buying a billboard on the side of the highway, paying the people for the billboard and then they come and put a giant blanket over it.” Emails shared with local media showed Facebook accused him of not using his “authentic name.” Zuckerberg says he submitted IDs, credit cards, and photos to prove his identity. “I’m Mark Steven. And he’s Mark Elliot,” the lawyer said, referring to the Facebook founder. Meta confirmed that his account was reinstated after the lawsuit was filed, admitting it had been “disabled in error.” The company said it was taking steps to ensure the mistake did not happen again. Mark S Zuckerberg, who has practiced law for 38 years, even runs a website documenting cases where his name has caused mix-ups — including being mistakenly sued by the state of Washington.
