US: Two charged with federal felony after attempting to sell Biden’s daughter’s diary

Two Florida residents pleaded guilty to a scheme to peddle a diary and other items belonging to President Joe Biden's daughter to the conservative group Project Veritas for $40,000. According to the office of Manhattan, US Attorney Damian Williams, Aimee Harris, and Robert Kurlander plead guilty to conspiring to commit interstate transportation of stolen property. Williams said that because Harris and Kurlander "sought to profit from their theft of another person's personal property," they were convicted of a federal felony. Harris, 40, of Palm Beach, and Kurlander, 58, face the possibility of up to five years in prison when sentenced. The investigation details have been laid out in court filings and public statements from Project Veritas. Ashley Biden was moving out of a friend's Delray Beach, Florida, home in spring 2020 when she stored the diary, tax records, a digital device with family photos, a cellphone, and other items. Harris then moved into the same room, stole the items, and got in touch with Kurlander, who contacted Project Veritas, who requested photos of the material and subsequently paid for the two to travel to New York with the diary and pictures. The prosecutors said that after meeting the two in New York, Project Veritas sent them back to Florida to collect more of Ashley Biden's belongings from the house. Moreover, according to the prosecutor, the group paid the two $20,000 apiece. Project Veritas admits to having obtained the diary from anonymous tipsters. The organization said it turned the journal over to law enforcement and never did anything illegal. According to Project Veritas' founder James O'Keefe, the organization ultimately decided against publishing the diary's contents because it could not verify that Ashley Biden wrote them.
