A security guard was killed and another man injured after a four-wheel drive vehicle crashed into a money exchange house in Sharjah on Monday (December 19). Police said that the incident happened at around 10 a.m. at the UAE Exchange branch at Al Hosn Tower in Sharjah's Central Region. The driver accidentally stepped on the accelerator instead of the brake, causing the vehicle to smash into the shop, police said. The building security guard was killed on the spot while a male bystander is in critical condition. UAE Exchange Country Head Abdul Kareem said that none of the company's staff or customers were injured in the incident. Initial police investigation revealed that the driver was not paying attention at the time of the incident. In July, two people were killed and five people injured after a driver lost control of his four-wheel-drive and crashed into a McDonald's restaurant in Ajman. Police said that the 22-year-old Emirati driver suffered an epileptic fit as he tried to park his car.
