Teen killed after speeding vehicle overturns on Dubai highway

DUBAI - A four-wheel-drive that made a sudden swerve before hitting a road barrier has left one person dead, the Dubai Police confirmed on Saturday. Police did not release details of the victim, but said that she was a 16-year-old passenger on the Toyota Land Cruiser. The incident happened on Friday on Sheikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Road in front of Silicon Oasis. Police said that skid marks on the road showed that the four-wheel-drive made a sudden swerve at high speed. The vehicle reportedly slipped to the right side of the road before it hit a cement barrier and overturned. The 16-year-old female passenger was pronounced dead at a hospital, while four other Jordanian passengers were injured. Police have summoned the 42-year-old Jordanian driver for questioning.
