Video: 24 phone scammers arrested in Ajman

  ABU DHABI – A gang of 24 Asians operating a telephone scam from Ajman have been arrested, according to the Abu Dhabi Police. The Abu Dhabi Police on Tuesday released footage of the raid at a villa in Ajman. The raid was done in collaboration with the Ajman Police. The police said that the suspects were “involved in fraudulent phone calls targeting members of the public”. Brigadier Imran Ahmed Al Mazrouei, director of the Criminal Investigation Department at Abu Dhabi Police, said the suspects promised target victims with bogus cash prizes. “They asked to transfer telephone recharge cards as charges for processing the cash prizes the won,” Al Mazrouei said.
