Video of lions walking on Dubai beach goes viral

DUBAI – A video clip of two grown lions walking on a Dubai beach has grown viral on social media. In the 15-second video clip posted on Twitter, the lions are seen being walked by their handlers along the beach near the Burj Al Arab. It is not clear when the video was taken or who the owner of the lions is, but this was not the first time that a video has emerged of big cats being kept as pets in the UAE. As of Tuesday (November 20), less than 24 hours after it was uploaded, the video had already gotten more than 21,000 views. It also got mixed reactions from viewers. The UAE has made it illegal to own wild or exotic animals as pets and violators face a fine of between Dh10,000 and Dh100,000. At least 142 exotic animals have been seized in the UAE this year.
