Warning over viral video of Dubai waterbus crash

  DUBAI – A video of a Wonder Bus that crashed into an abra and a dhow boat on the Dubai Creek has gone viral again. The 43-second video clip was widely shared on Whatsapp, but a Wonder Bus Tours representative told Expatmedia.net on Tuesday (February 21) that the incident caught on video actually happened in 2014. “This happened in 2014… The bus completed the trip safely and nobody was hurt or injured,” the administrative supervisor who identified herself only as Mari told Expatmedia.net. “We have continuously served Dubai for more than 14 years and made happy and safe trips,” Mari said. Mari said that Wonder Bus Tours was aware of the video going viral on social media again and that they have notified the police, warning that the company may take action against anyone circulating the video on social media. An email to the Dubai Police was not answered as of this publication. The video of the 2014 incident showed a Wonder Bus Tours amphibian bus that appeared to have gone out of control as it hit the abra first. Shrieks from passengers could be heard as the waterbus bumped into the abra before careening into an oncoming dhow boat.
