Award-winning Filipino chocolatier Chef Nouel Catis, the culinary mind behind Dubai’s viral chocolate, has announced that he is expanding his team and opening several new positions. In a Facebook post on Friday (August 29), Catis revealed he is hiring a Sous Chef for Innovation. He also announced that he is looking for a Bookkeeper, and a Sales and Business Development Officer for Nouel Catis Foodstuff Trading. Interested applicants may send their CVs and cover letters to hr@chefnouelcatis.com, with the subject line corresponding to the position applied for. Catis, who gained recognition for his artisanal pistachio kunafa chocolate, launched his own chocolate brand Sna’ap last year. The chocolate bars feature flavours such as Ube Baklava, Salted Caramel Rahash, and Pistachio Kunafa. The Filipino chef went viral after his appearance on Shark Tank Dubai aired in July. Initially agreeing to a controversial deal requiring him to give up 51 percent control of his business, Catis later revealed: “I did not agree to the 51 percent in the end.” Speaking to Rolling Stone Philippines, he explained that the episode was actually filmed last year and that he was given six months to finalize the deal, during which he was able grow his brand independently. “My value in the market had changed. If I still accept it, I’m not giving myself what I should be worth,” he said. Since the Shark Tank Dubai show, Catis has launched Sna’ap Chocolates, his own artisan line, and said he may reopen the business to investments in the future. “Even if you’re the best chef, that doesn’t guarantee that you will become the best businessman.
