That’s now a reality in the UAE, where Fujairah has unveiled the Arab world’s first musical road, turning a daily commute into an immersive artistic experience. The innovative project, launched by the Fujairah Fine Arts Academy, spans 750 metres along Sheikh Khalifa Street at the entrance to Fujairah City. As vehicles drive at a specific speed over the specially grooved surface, the vibrations produce musical notes that collectively play Beethoven’s iconic Ninth Symphony—a classical masterpiece widely regarded as a universal anthem of unity and joy. More than just a novelty, the "Musical Street" is a cultural statement—part of the emirate’s push to integrate art into everyday life. It marks the first time such a project has been implemented in the UAE and the Arab world. “The Musical Street project is an extension of Fujairah's vision to integrate art into everyday life, offering a unique experience that touches people's senses in unconventional settings,” said Ali Obaid Al Hefeiti, Director General of the Fujairah Fine Arts Academy. “We believe that music is a universal language capable of creating exceptional moments, even while driving.” The Academy emphasized that the road is more than a gimmick—it reflects Fujairah’s growing identity as a cultural and artistic hub in the UAE. It also aligns with the emirate's broader mission to use public art as a vehicle for creativity and connection. “This project connects art to life, embodying the Academy’s mission to spread beauty and creativity throughout the emirate,” Al Hefeiti added. The musical stretch is expected to become a cultural landmark and tourist attraction, offering a unique sensory experience for both locals and visitors. It also encourages drivers to maintain a safe and steady speed—combining entertainment, art, and traffic awareness into one harmonious initiative.
