A viral video showing unsafe electric scooter use in Abu Dhabi has prompted authorities to call for stricter adherence to safety rules and designated riding zones. Posted by Abu Dhabi Police in partnership with the Monitoring and Control Center, the video shows kandoura-clad riders crossing busy roads. The e-scooter riders were not wearing helmets or reflective vests. Other clips show e-scooter users riding against traffic, narrowly avoiding collisions. Police urged residents to use e-scooters only in approved areas and to wear helmets and protective gear. Parents were also advised to supervise minors. Several residents voiced their opinions online. “People should never ride scooters in such risky ways,” said Ishfaq Ahmad. Osman Ghani confirmed that police was actively giving fines to violators.  One resident, Shameer M Sharif, added, “Some people are driving scooters at high speed on the sidewalk, especially in city areas.” E-scooter laws in the UAE mandate safety lights, warning devices, brakes, and helmet use.
