Vivo has officially launched its latest flagship smartphone, the X200 FE, in the UAE—promising a compact, power-packed experience designed with Gen Z users in mind. The phone went on sale on Wednesday (July 23) and retails for Dh2,599. The X200 FE enters an already crowded Android market where flashy specs are the norm, but Vivo is banking on its camera partnership with Zeiss, built-in Google Gemini AI features, and a slim design to appeal to younger, content-driven users. “Our latest smartphone is a testament to our commitment to delivering innovation tailored for a new generation, blending compact design with uncompromised power and creativity,” said Valeria Yang, Vivo’s brand manager, during the Dubai launch. The phone comes in two colors—Yellow Glow and Black Luxe—and features a 6.31-inch AMOLED display that Vivo says offers true-to-life color, thanks to Zeiss Master Color technology.

Cameras designed for content creators

On the camera front, the X200 FE is equipped with a 50MP main camera (using a Sony IMX921 sensor), a 50MP Zeiss super telephoto lens with up to 100x zoom, and an ultra-wide lens. Vivo is also touting creative shooting modes like Stage Mode, Telephoto Night Landscapes, Street Photography with film filters, and Multifocal Portraits. Still, in a segment where phones like the Google Pixel 8 and Samsung’s Galaxy S24 are already setting high standards for mobile photography, it remains to be seen how Vivo’s Zeiss collaboration performs in real-world use. The X200 FE is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ processor, with a 4+4 big-core architecture, and comes with 12GB RAM + 512GB storage, plus another 12GB of Extended RAM for multitasking. It also packs a 6500mAh battery with 90W fast charging, which promises minimal downtime. Durability-wise, it has IP68/IP69 water and dust resistance and what Vivo describes as “SGS Triple Battery Protection.” For long hours of use, the 1.5K LTPO AMOLED screen supports up to 1800 nits brightness, 2160Hz PWM dimming, and multiple eye care modes, which Vivo says are certified by SGS for low blue light emission. On the software side, the phone runs on Funtouch OS, now integrated with Google Gemini AI. That includes smart features like Circle to Search, AI captions, Live Text, and Instant Screen Translation. Whether this gives the phone a usability edge over Google’s own phones is still up for debate.

Price and availability

The Vivo X200 FE is now available in the UAE in a single 12GB+512GB variant priced at Dh2,599. While the X200 FE checks many boxes—camera features, AI tools, fast charging—it will have to prove its worth against aggressive competition from bigger players.
