Warning over fake repatriation tickets in UAE
DUBAI – Expatriates in the UAE have been warned against scammers offering fake airline tickets to those hoping to be repatriated to their home countries. Pakistan Consul General Ahmed Amjad said men claiming to be “special travel agents” have recently targeted Pakistanis in the UAE. The official said that people had shown up at the airport with the fake tickets and had to be turned away. Amjad said tickets are only issued to Pakistanis who have received confirmation from consulate officials to be repatriated. The consul general urged the public to report scammers to the consulate or the police. https://www.expatmedia.net/filipinos-uae-warned-scammers-offering-repatriation-help/2020/04/ https://www.expatmedia.net/indians-uae-warned-fake-repatriation-notice/2020/04/ In April, the Philippine Embassy in the UAE warned Filipinos against unscrupulous individuals, groups or travel agencies offering false claims of help in repatriation. “Be careful and don’t trust these scammers,” the embassy warned in a statement, urging Filipinos to report unscrupulous individuals to the embassy or consulate officials. https://www.expatmedia.net/repatriation-jobless-filipinos-uae-avail/2020/04/ Also in April, the Indian Embassy warned Indians in the UAE against a fake circular asking them to share their contact details to a bogus email address to allegedly get on the repatriation list.
