Abu Dhabi bagged four Guinness World Records as it ushered in the new year with a spectacular fireworks and drone show at Sheikh Zayed Festival at midnight on Monday (January 1). Festivities began with a 30-minute drone show featuring 5,000 drones over the festival venue in Al Wathba, followed by 40-minute fireworks. Organizers previously announced that the fireworks would last 60 minutes. Nevertheless, the midnights fireworks show still broke a world record. Watch it here: The fireworks display at Sheikh Zayed Festival broke three records for Most helicopter-shaped fireworks fired in 30 seconds, Most wheel-shaped fireworks fired in 30 seconds and Most repeated fireworks in 30 seconds. Its drone show broke the record for Largest formation of a quick response code performed by drones. Visitors were also treated to the region’s largest laser show, plus a lights and music show from the Emirates Fountain. Sheikh Zayed Festival, currently taking place at Al Wathba in Abu Dhabi, will remain open to visitors until March 9.
