Watch: Camel that fell into sewage hole rescued in Dubai   DUBAI – A rare kind of rescue this week showed exactly why Dubai is a city that cares. The object of the rescue? A camel. The Dubai Police on Wednesday (May 24) posted a video of the camel rescue in the Al Liysaili area along the Dubai-Al Ain road. The animal fell into a hole filled with sewage water on Tuesday evening, according to police. “The poor camel was absolutely submerged, only his head was sticking out from the thick muck, it was very worrying,” said Lieutenant Colonel Ahmad Atiq Burqibah, deputy director of the Search and Rescue Department at the General Department of Transport and Rescue at Dubai Police. It was not clear how the animal fell into the small hole. A rescue team then drained the water-filled hole with the help of a sewage truck from the Dubai Municipality. Rescuers then put a harness on the camel to allow them to lift the exhausted animal out into safety. The rescue effort took three hours, but it ended with the camel sauntering off to freedom. This is not the first time UAE authorities have gone out of their way to rescue animals in distress. Last month, the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence closed down a section of a busy highway to rescue a wayward kitten.
