Philippines' Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary, Benjamin Abalos Jr., recently visited the Dubai Police General Headquarters where he was welcomed by His Excellency Lieutenant General Abdulla Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police. Watch the video of Abalos' visit to Dubai Police's General Headquarters: Abalos and Al Marri discussed strategies to enhance and strengthen the bilateral relationship between both countries in the fields of security and policing. The officials also discussed shared interests and looked into Dubai Police's practices and achievements in crime prevention. The Philippines' Interior Secretary was shown statistics that highlight Dubai Police's success in preventing various crimes. He also learned about the Force's international efforts to combat organised and transnational crime, as they work with security and law enforcement agencies around the world to ensure safety in communities globally. Al Marri then showed Abalos around the Command and Control Centre where they checked out the centre's new equipment, including a 3D map of Dubai and a patrol dispatch system that helps respond quickly to emergency calls. Abalos was also introduced to the 'Drone Box' system and was shown a short film demonstrating Dubai Police's quick response to an incident. As the visit wrapped up, Abalos received a commemorative shield from Al Marri, which featured a 3D replica of Naif Police Station, Dubai's first police station. The DILG Secretary is currently on an official visit to the UAE for key discussions with government officials. He also facilitated the extradition of a Filipino sexual offender who was apprehended by UAE police authorities and is being returned to the Philippines. FLE/Expat Media
