Key bridge at intersection of Expo Road and Al Asayel Street opens

  DUBAI – A new bridge leading to the Dubai Expo 2020 site was opened to the public on Saturday (February 16), according to the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). The bridge is part of phase 5 of the roads network to the Expo site, and is located at the intersection of the Expo Road and Al Asayel Street. The RTA said it partially opened three lanes in each direction. Construction work of phase 5 is more than 50 percent complete, and is expected to end in June. Road work is still ongoing to expand the Expo Road, which includes the construction of bridges that extend to 2.6km and roads that span 3km. A bridge spanning 800km will be constructed on Expo Road to elevate it at the intersection with Al Asayel Street. The bridge will have a total of six lanes in each direction. Two more bridges will also be constructed to link the Expo Road with a service road that extends to one kilometer to ease traffic flow to the Expo site.
