  SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – An independent review of the July 2 welterweight title bout between Manny Pacquiao and Jeff Horn showed that the Australian fighting schoolteacher indeed won the fight. Three of the five independent jurors scored the fight in favor of Horn, one scored it in favor of Pacquiao while one deemed it as a draw, according to a statement from the WBO. The review of the fight held at the Suncorp Arena in Brisbane was sought by the Games and Amusement Board (GAB) in a letter to WBO president Francisco Valcarcel. The GAB said boxing analysts and the public said Pacquiao won the fight and criticized the three judges for scoring the fight in favor of Horn despite the latter's roughhousing of the Filipino boxing icon and the referee for alleged lapses in officiating. Waleska Roldan of the US gave a score of 117-111 in favor of Horn while Chris Flores of the US and Ramon Cerdan of Argentina scored the bout 115-113. The WBO nixed the request only to take back its decision and decided to have a review of the fight conducted, reportedly due to popular demand. The WBO said the review showed that Pacquiao won the third, eighth and ninth rounds by 100 percent, the fifth round by 80 percent and the 11th by 60 percent while Horn got the first, sixth and 12th rounds by 100 percent, the second, fourth and seventh by 80 percent and the 10th by 60 percent. Thus, the WBO said, "it can be established that Pacquiao won 5 rounds while Horn won 7 rounds." The boxing organization also said when the independent judges' scores for each round were combined with the bout judge's scores, it also confirmed a win for Horn.
