Wear a seatbelt or face Dh400 fine

  DUBAI – Whether you are behind the wheel or in the passenger seat, if you're not wearing a seatbelt starting on July 1 you will get a Dh400 fine. The Ministry of Interior this week revealed a new list of traffic fines and regulations that will be implemented starting on July, according to General Mohammad Saif Al Zafein, head of the UAE Federal Traffic Council. The list includes a fine of Dh400 for the driver and for each passenger caught not wearing a seatbelt. The driver will also be given four black points.

The new rules also prevent children below the age of 10 and anyone shorter than 145cm from sitting in the front passenger seat to avoid being choked by a seatbelt in case of an accident.
