Win gold bars, join treasure hunt in RTA campaign

  DUBAI – The 14th year anniversary of Dubai’s Public Transport Day promises to shower commuters with prizes and giveaways, including gold bars. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced that an 11-day festival will be held from November 1 to 11, featuring a raffle draw for gold bars for public transport users. The Public Transport Day will also engage commuters in a treasure hunt, 2.5km and 5km races along the Dubai Water Canal promenade and will also honour frequent public transport users. Meanwhile, Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of RTA, said more projects are underway to improve public transport efficiency. The Dubai Metro has been extended to 75km with 47 stations, while the number of public buses has risen to 145 percent at 1,520. Al Tayer said that the RTA is planning to expand the bus network to cover 20 new communities in Dubai by 2020.
