A 31-year-old Asian woman in Dubai was fined Dh3,000 for attacking a taxi driver in Dubai’s International City after she tried to escape without paying the fare. The Dubai Misdemeanor Court found her guilty of assault in the September 2022 incident. She claimed she was drunk at the time of the incident. According to records, the woman travelled in the taxi from JBR to International City but tried to escape without paying the fare. The driver said he tried to stop her but that she punched him and slapped him in the face. He reported the assault to the police. The driver sustained scratches on his face and bruises near his eye that made him unable to work for 20 days.
