Woman gives birth in car on way to Sharjah hospital

  DUBAI – A woman in Sharjah has given birth in the back seat of a car while on the way to the hospital on Sunday. Doctors at Medcare Hospital Sharjah said they found the newborn wrapped in a blanket on its mother’s chest. They said the incident is the hospital’s first reported “born before arrival” or BBA delivery. The newborn and the mother were healthy, and doctors said they immediately cut the baby boy’s umbilical cord and transferred him to the maternity ward. “Patient safety comes first, which in this case included both the mother and child,” said Dr Kishan Pakkal, COO of Medcare Hospital Sharjah.
