Malaysian who insulted two Dubai airport employees gets suspended jail

  DUBAI - The jail term of a Malaysian woman, who earlier insulted two public employees at the Dubai International Airport and took their photos without their consent earlier this year, was suspended by the Court of Appeal for three years. The court has suspended the verdict against the 36-year-old woman who was sentenced to serve seven months in jail by the Court of Misdemeanors. Her deportation following her jail term was also cancelled. The court also ordered the confiscation of the woman's mobile phone. Her Dh500 appeal fee was also ordered to be returned to her. The woman, a holder of a visit visa, became angry and blamed the airline for failing to obtain a boarding ticket. According to the prosecution records, the woman booked her ticket through an online ticketing agency. But upon reaching the terminal 3 of the airport, she was shocked to learn that there was no booking under her name. The woman was escorted by an employee to the airline office where they tried to explain to her that it was not their fault and they were not the right authority to handle her concern. When she was brought at the police centre at the airport, the woman talked in an abusive and disrespectful manner after getting angry for missing her flight. She also took photos of the two airport employees and threatened to post their photos on Facebook where she will let others know how she felt. The woman, during the public prosecution investigation, admitted losing her temper in dealing the problem with the airline. She also admitted using bad language at them and taking their photos.
